What was the 'hottest' thing to be searched on Google yesterday?
Apparently pretty much anything related to the (NY Governor) Elliot Spitzer prostitution controversy.

It's bad enough that he cheated on his wife, but to drag his kids through this? That little b*stard is a sucky father and if I was his kid and I heard that he was in this controversy, I'd go up to him and say, "Dad, you are an a-hole and I'm disowning you, you loser. You cheated on Mom and what about me? You little f***ing excuse for a dad, and a governor." And then I'd kick him in the balls. Hard.

My Social Studies teacher had a discussion with us about that, and he agrees, and he mentioned how Spitzer's kids must feel when they go to school the next day and the kids are talking about their dad...

What's your opinion on this?

Can Perfume Inspire A Gown?

I spotted this gown on the fashion blog for the Met. It was designed for Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskens, and referenced not only the archives of the house’s faintly recalled eponymous founder but also her perfume, L’Air du Temps, which I own, with its two doves hovering above the bottle of swirling crystal. This gown is so gorgeous, it makes me want to scream.

Prada Gets An A+ in Art

Prada uses these unique drawings as part of their line, in several of their bags, I believe. I love how it is both monochromatic and colorful at the same time... especially that the colored parts highlight and enhance the artwork. I wonder who drew them? My favorites are the first and last drawings.

Marchesa, How I Adore Thee

This Marchesa dress is so gorgeous... I love the different textures, the (velvet) skirtwith the (silk) bow with the (feathered) top. I can imagine myself wearing these Miu Miu spectator pumps with them, and an updo or a chic chignon.

Tyra Takes Her Claws to Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss is on the rise, but we're not sure if that's a good thing if Tyra Banks is in the audience. If you've not seen it, the Kloss walk features a kind of stoned death stare; she moves in slow motion, swaying her head from side to side in such a way that if laser beams were to suddenly shoot out of her eyes — and we suspect they might any minute now — she would obliterate everyone in the first two rows. So when Kloss floated by Banks at the Jill Stuart show this afternoon, Banks noticed. Tyra excitedly tapped her purple-haired neighbor, indicating this was the moment she'd been waiting for. Her eyes adopted the same couldn't-give-a-shit glare as Kloss; she dropped her chin, and slowly swayed her head from side to side, transforming herself into a Kloss zombie. Her companion laughed excitedly and so Tyra did the routine again. And again. Then she turned to her other front-row neighbor, the ubiquitous Nigel Barker, and did it again. Nigel shook his head and, though we didn't hear their conversation, they seemed to agree they didn't know what the hell Kloss was doing. Whatever it was, it's been working: The girl's barely 15 years old and has been owning the runways all week. —Amy Odell

Fashion Weeks Gone "Bye" Part Deux

BCBG MAX AZRIA- Soft, breezy outfits stormed the runway, with subtle touches such as the leather belts and handbags to keep the outfits playful and wearable, so they won't be doomed to closet limbo if you buy one of the beautiful pieces. One must note, however, that safari colors were abundant, but the outfits did not veer dangerously close to camp attire. That shows what geniuses the partners behind BCBG are.

BETSEY JOHNSON- One of my favorite designers, Betsey did not disappoint. The themes for the clothes ran rampant, ranging from dark moody colors, to offbeat prints, to bright cheery yellow, to patriotic red white and blue. And as always, the clothes were sophisticated but with a touch of youth, which gives Betsey Johnson clothes it's flair.

BADGLEY MISCHKA- All of the models looked like high glamour, with the gorgeous, gorgeous clothes they modeled at Badgley Mischka. I loved the outfits that had the high waisted, knee length shirts, a belt, and a top. I also loved the leather jacket, if that is leather, in the second to last photo. The hair and makeup was beautiful, and all the clothes were truly wearable, and must I stress it, everything was absolutely GORGEOUS. This perhaps was my favorite collection I have seen from Badgley Mischka.

CHRISTIAN LACROIX- I admire this designer, but the collection I was viewing didn't really stand out to me, but the pieces that did were beautifully made with fine attention to detail, as with all of the pieces. Some of the silhouettes were unusual, but striking. I loved the pairing of blue tights with the lace gown below, since it made it wearable.

ERIN FETHERSTON- The collection was good, but not great. The black clothes veered dangerously close to the "schoolgirl" look, and the patterned dresses looked like it was haphazardly made, but once the white clothes came ou, the collection sparkled to life. However, maybe it would be wise for Erin to stick to the other seasons besides the Fall and Winter collections. BUT, I loved, loved, LOVED the outfit Karlie Kloss modelled in the show, so there may be hope for Erin yet.

Fashion Weeks Gone "Bye"

I was looking at previous collections, and decided to share my favorites.

ANNA SUI- Monochromatic was abundant, with shocking hair colors offsetting the colors.

Dramatic as usual, I applaude Ms. Sui for her eccentric designs.

ALBERTA FERRETTI- Dreamy, soft and nuetral colors rocked the runway. There were subtle, delicate touches such as the shoes with intricate straps or the border of dresses such as the white toga-esque dress with black details on the neck below.

ALEXANDER WANG- Masculine and feminine were combined by Alexander Wang, and a fabulous collection was the result. Every outfit was gorgeous, and it makes me wish that I could buy them all!

Picked Out of A Crowd

I'm going with my friend to a fashion show this Friday, and it's quite interesting show.

All the people who attend stay in a group, and 12 people are picked to model clothes from nearby boutiques.

After that, there are workshops about having a healthy image, or what would look best on you.

It's quite fun, and it'll be a goood way to waste two hours and hang with my BFF.

Both of us are crossing our fingers that we'll both get picked.

Maybe there will even be a Ford agent there! Hey, a girl can dream!

The Effects of Music on the Mind

Most people play an instrument, whether they’ve just picked it up or if they’ve been playing it for several years. Even if you play the piano or the piccolo, do you notice that you feel happier after you practice or if your math grades are doing well? If you are, that’s normal. Modern research show that music affects the mind in many ways, and feeling good or doing well in math are only some of the possible effects music has on the mind.
Every person has a preference for music, no matter how varied it might be. If you listen to musical pieces, you may notice the use of perfect fifths or fourths. According to research, scientists are noticing that what seems to be a biologically based fondness, may explain the use of perfect fifths and fours in music across cultures and across centuries.
Scientists believe the brain holds a special place for music, as evidenced by the fact that people can remember dozens of tunes and can recognize hundreds more. However, people can usually remember only snatches of passages from a speech or book.
Music also affects people’s moods in powerful ways. Not only can music incite passion, aggression, serenity, or fear, but also it affects the mood of people who don’t know from experience that something will happen, for an example, that a particular crescendo in a thriller means that the killer is about to appear on the movie screen.
A psychologist at Brown University, Martin Gardiner, finds that kids who play an instrument often improve somewhat in school by ‘good mood’ and attention effects that come from playing music. However, kids who play an instrument usually just shoot ahead in math, and there’s something specific about music and math, he says. That something might be that music involves proportions, ratios, sequences-all of which underlie mathematical reasoning.
Another effect from playing music is that people normally become better at bi-manual movements. Also, a person’s prefrontal cortex, the sight of planning and foresight, and the premotor cortex, where actions are mapped out before they’re executed, are stronger, so musicians have better motor skills; and their right, linked to emotion, and left, linked to cognition, brain are strengthened, causing more understanding and emotion. Seeing all the benefits from playing music, you have something to look forward to next time you have lessons with your instrument; or if you want to learn how to play a new one, you have a reason backed by science to convince your parents to let you play the instrument.

School

Vacation is over and now school is in session, that is if you live in the US since I dunno about other countries.

School can be annoying and is, but the reality is that people have to deal with it until their late teens.

However, people who go to school should be grateful that they get an education since many people in the world are uneducated.

Now getting to the point, homework stinks, especially when you have to stay up on the weekends to finish it, which was what i was doing until I typed this post. I suggest playing songs, or taking breaks every 30 minutes to an hour. Hopefully you'll finish it all so you can relax tomorrow.

BTW: I'm doing a project for school that involves researching the country and cooking a dish associated with the country, and that's why the flag is there). I picked Austria since I'm from there (it's not a big part of my genetic makeup though), and I'm making sacher torte. Yep, chocolate cake. Haha.

Feeling Bored?

I discovered this little gem on youtube and became obsessed. JKL Productions are hysterical and so funny. The creators and stars are Jon, Katie, and Lucas. Lucas talks in a falsetto and talks really fast, which is really funny. WARNING: You may get a crush on Lucas like my friends did while watching the shows.

Another Spears Bites the Dust

You've probably heard already from a friend, Perez Hilton, E!online, or from your Social Studies teacher that Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. The father is her 18 year old boyfriend Casey Aldridge, but she's sixteen. Apparently, she's 12 months along, and her parents aren't happy, but her older sister is more positive about the news. It's sad since everybody thought that she was the good kid since she wasn't wild like Britney, was the star of the "tween" show Zoey 101, and was a good role model on the show. But now that she's going to be a mother even before she graduates high school, which is sad. Teen pregnancy happens, and sometimes the father doesn't stick around to help rear the kid. This is what Health class was designed to do, to prevent this from happening. even though I'm disappointed in her, I hope she has a safe delivery, and able to provide for her child.

UPDATE:

Nickelodeon is considering doing a special about teen pregnancy in light of Jamie's pregnancy. Do you think her show should get cancelled or not?
